The best of the Ribeira Sacra wine region - VIP Food & Wine Experience!

Interesting fact: Spain has almost 80 different wine regions, 5 of which are in Galicia alone. As you can imagine, with wine being produced in every corner of the country, you can go on all sorts of wine tours. This is not your standard group tour. This is a one-of-a-kind, unique escapade!

The Ribeira Sacra wine region, located in central Galicia, was officially given its D. O. status in 1996 but has always been known for its very special wine production. It is believed that it takes its name, "Sacred Shore", after 18 monasteries that were founded there between the 8th and 12th centuries. The monks planted the vineyards for their own consumption and the winemaking tradition has been passed on to the locals in modern times. The vineyards are planted on the steep slopes of the valleys and canyons of the Miño and Sil rivers, making it extremely difficult to harvest and as such has been labeled as "viticultura heroica" or heroic wine-growing!

This and more will be explained during the tour.
